Are you seeking the roots of your

Swedish ancestors?

A picture from the province of Dalsland, Western Sweden, in the beginning of the 20th century.

A

farmer and his family. They have all dressed up for the photographer. Why do they stand so silently, almost solemnly in front of the wooden house in the background? Perhaps it is their hereditary homestead? Was it built in 1830? That year seems to stand out against the gray slates on the roof. Who is the man to the right? Why is he dressed differently from the others? What was the reason for the picture? Could it be the last photo of the old place before they left it for the emigration steamer in Gothenburg? Probably not, if that had been the case, they would probably have had a stack of bags and chests labeled North America behind them.

O

ne picture; many questions. These people could have been your ancestors. If that had been the case, wouldn’t you have liked to know more about them?

I

can provide you with your family history based upon the Swedish church records going back through the generations, beginning with your ancestor, who left Sweden for ever to build a new life in the land of hope and promise - the United States.

D

uring a future trip to Sweden you might want to have a look at the different places or the area where your ancestor grew up. Or, perhaps you would like to find relatives, to whom a visit might be arranged. In either case, I can research up to present times and trace your ancestor’s homesteads and descendants.

A

s an example of my work, I offer to research - FREE OF CHARGE - the history of your Swedish relative from the cradle to the Swedish emigration port. I shall also include - again FREE OF CHARGE - birth dates of his or her parents, brothers and sisters.

I

f you like my sample research, you might also like me to carry on and find out more on your ancestors’ generations long gone. For a fee (see my price lists) I shall then continue to search the church records and other sources available according to your specific instructions.

I

offer my services not only on pure business grounds but also because it brings me in touch with new friends in a country I admire and respect, and to which some of my own ancestors emigrated in the beginning of the last century.
